    The Energy Health Insurance Plan is a unique policy that provides coverage for hospitalisations and treatments that one might have to undergo as a result of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT), Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG), and/or Hypertension, starting from day 1 of the policy tenure, without any waiting period. Further, this policy also provides an added cover against expenses incurred due to inpatient hospitalisation along with health rewards and a wellness program.

    Eligibility Criteria for Apollo Munich Energy Health Insurance Plan

    Policy buyers will have to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria before they can purchase the policy.

    • Any individual between the ages of 18 years and 65 years can purchase the policy, provided they have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT), Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG), and/or Hypertension.
    • The policy is issued on an annual basis, and can be renewed yearly for life.

    Sum Insured and Premium Range

    Sum Insured: The sum insured is the maximum amount that the insurer is liable to pay the policyholder in the event of a hospitalisation. This policy can only be taken on an Individual Sum Insured basis.

    Premium: The premium is a certain sum of money that one will have to pay to the insurer in order to avail the benefits offered by the policy. The exact payable premium will vary as per the sum insured, age at entry, and other factors.

    Key Features of Apollo Munich Energy Health Insurance Plan

    • This plan is available in two variants – a Silver Plan and a Gold Plan.
    • The plan covers hospitalisations and treatments as a result of Hypertension and Diabetes from Day 1.
    • In-patient hospitalisation is covered with no sub-limits.
    • The plan provides wellness incentives in the form of premium discounts and also a diagnostic monitoring program to help manage one’s health.
    • Insurer also provides a personalised health coach, access to a wellness portal, helpline-service, discounts on health foods, health merchandise, etc.
    • Cashless service is provided at all network hospitals.
    • The original sum insured can be enhanced at the time of renewing the policy.
    • Policyholders can port policies from insurer to insurer.
    • Policyholders are entitled to claim tax benefits under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
    • Grace period of 30 days is provided to renew the policy.
    • Waiting periods that are mentioned in the policy brochure will reduce by 1 years on every continuous policy anniversary.
    • The general 30-day waiting period does not apply to this policy.

    Benefits of Apollo Munich Energy Health Insurance Plan

    In-Patient Treatment Treatment/hospitalisation for over 24 hours as a result of an accident/illness will be covered. Cover is extended to include room rent charges, nursing charges, ICU fees, anaesthesia, operation theatre charges, drugs, consumables, etc.
    Pre-Hospitalisation Expenses Covered for 30 days prior to the date of admission into the hospital
    Post-Hospitalisation Expenses Covered for a 60-day period post discharge
    Day-Care Procedures Day-care procedures that don’t require overnight hospital stay will be covered
    Organ Donor Treatment of the donor, surgery to remove organs, etc. are covered under this plan
    Ambulance Expenses Covered up to Rs.2,000 per hospitalisation

    Exclusions of Apollo Munich Energy Health Insurance Plan

    • Pre-existing diseases, apart from those conditions related to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Impaired Glucose Tolerance, Hypertension, or Impaired Fasting Glucose, will only be provided a cover after a 3-year waiting period.
    • Specific diseases will be covered after the completion of a two-year waiting period.
    • Expenses incurred as a result of treating AIDS/HIV and related diseases will not be covered.
    • Congenital diseases, cosmetic surgery, weight-loss treatments, mental disorders are not included under the policy’s cover.
    • Hospitalisation as a result of consumption of alcohol or narcotic drugs will not be covered.
    • Hospitalisation/treatment as a result of war, nuclear activities, or radiation.
    • Pregnancy, external aids, aesthetic treatments, dental treatments, and appliances.
    • Items/devices/appliances used for one’s own convenience or personal comfort.
    • Experimental and unproven treatments will not be covered.
    • Treatments availed outside the country or treatments that are not availed at registered hospitals.
    • Claims arising out of hospitalisation for treatments that do not come under day-care procedures or in-patient treatments.
    • Out-patient treatments and organ donor’s pre- and post-hospitalisation expenses.
    • Expenses incurred for the treatment of a condition that is not the same as the condition for which the policyholder underwent hospitalisation.
    • Expenses which are directly or indirectly not related to the hospital admission.
    • Expenses arising solely as a result of administration of drugs or medications.
    • Hospital admissions which are not compliant under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994.
    • Expenses incurred by way of utilising non-registered ambulances.
