For car owners in the country, Bharti AXA General Insurance offers two types of car insurance policies – third-party liability car insurance and comprehensive car insurance.
Mandatory as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the third-party insurance policy offers coverage up to Rs.7.5 lakh and offers damage coverage to the third-party involved in the accident, and coverage for medical expenses if the accident leads to the bodily injury or disability of the third-party. In addition, if the third-party dies following the accident, the policy offers compensation to the dependents or family of the third-party. That said, the third-party car insurance policy is a basic car insurance policy and offers no coverage for the policyholder. Following an accident, the policyholder will have to meet the costs from his/her own pocket to repair the damages caused to the car and medical expenses if the accident leads to bodily injury or disability of the policyholder.
As the name suggests, the comprehensive car insurance policy offered by Bharti AXA Car Insurance offers coverage to the policyholder and the third-party for damages caused to the vehicles and coverage to meet the cost of medical expenses if the accident results in disability or bodily injury of any of the involved parties. In addition, if the car of the policyholder is damaged following a natural calamity such as a flood, earthquake, cyclone, landslide, etc., then coverage to meet the expenses for the repairs will be extended by the insurer. The comprehensive car insurance policy also offers coverage if the car catches fire and compensation if the car is stolen.
For a premium of Rs.750 over the base policy, policyholders can purchase the personal accident cover up to Rs.15 lakh for the policyholder, third-party and the occupants in the car. The personal accident cover offers 100% payout in the event of death or severe disability or injury.
