Following the amendment of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, in order to drive their car on the roads of India, every vehicle owner has to have a four wheeler driving license. With the driving license, which will be issued by the Regional Transport Office within the jurisdiction of the candidate, the driving license holder will be permitted to drive anywhere in the country. Vehicle owners in Andhra Pradesh can apply for a driving license for vehicles without gears. For this, the applicant has to be a minimum of 16 years old.

The permanent driving license will be issued for a span of 20 years or till the driving license holder reaches the age of 50. In addition, if the applicant fails the practical driving test, then he/she can retake the test in 7 days.
