The driving license document is issued by the Regional Transport Department in the jurisdiction of the applicant, and when making application, the candidate has to choose the vehicle category that he/she wishes to drive. Candidates for the driving license can choose between a private vehicle driving license, four wheeler commercial or transport vehicle (including passenger vehicles) driving license, a heavy goods driving license, etc. For each vehicle category, the eligibility criteria to apply for the driving license test varies and the candidate has to meet the conditions to take the driving test.
In the state of Bihar, driving license applicants have the choice of applying for the test either offline or online. The online procedure for the application of the driving license test has to be carried out on the website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and the offline procedure can be carried out at the RTO in the area of residence of the candidate.

Using the learner’s license number or the application number, the driving license candidate can check the status of his/her driving license once the test is completed. This can be done on the portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. In addition, the candidate can apply for a duplicate driving license in the future if the document is either lost, stolen, or soiled. If the driving license card is stolen or lost, the driving license holder has to get an FIR from the nearest police station and then apply for a duplicate driving license at the RTO that issued the original driving license.
