To be permitted to drive on the streets of Gurgaon, as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, all vehicle owners in the city need to have a valid driving license. In order to initiate the process of applying for a driving license in Gurgaon, the vehicle owner needs to first have a learner’s license. A month after being issued the learner’s license by an RTO in Gurgaon, the candidate can make the application for the driving license test. Candidates have to ensure that they take the driving license test within 180 days or 6 months from the date of issuance of the learner’s license - basically the validity period of the learner’s license document.

On completion of the test, the driving license candidate can check the status of his/her driving license at the RTO using the application token number or online on the website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways using his/her learner’s license number or application number.
