As per the law set by the Government of India, for a vehicle owner to be eligible to drive on the roads in the country, he/she needs to have a valid driving license. In some states, vehicle owners can carry out the process of applying for a driving license online, but for those states that do not offer the service online, they will have to resort to getting the job done at the respective RTO. In the state of Karnataka, vehicle owners that wish to avail a car driving license can download the relevant application forms online, but the process has to be carried out at the RTO. To apply for a four wheeler driving license, the applicant has to first clear the learner’s license written test and then he/she can proceed to apply and take the car driving test. That said, we’ve listed out the various aspects of availing a driving license in Karnataka and what’s required.

Those who wish to drive or ride a four-wheeler can apply for this type of driving license. For this license, the applicant has to be at least 18 years old.
For those who wish to have a four wheeler driving license for commercial purposes, they will need to apply for this type of license. The applicant will have to go through a training at any Government Motor School prior to applying for this license. In Karnataka, the minimum age to apply for a transport driving license is 20 years old.

Once the driving license applicant has finished the practical driving test, he/she can check the status of the driving license on the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways using the driving license application number. If the driving license holder loses his/her driving license, he/she can apply for a duplicate driving license using Form LLD. The form can be procured online or at the RTO.
