      • The driving license applicant has to visit the Tamil Nadu State Transport Department website - tnsta.gov.in.
      • The applicant has to then download the application form, fill it, self-attest the form and upload it on the website.
      • Next, using the driving license application number, the applicant can book a slot to take the driving test at the RTO.
      • At the RTO, the applicant will have to submit the printed application form, all the relevant documents and then take the practical driving test.
    • Offline process
      • The driving license applicant will have to procure the application form at the RTO.
      • He/she will then have to fill all the required details of the form and then submit it with all the required documents.
      • The RTO officer will then allot a slot for the driving test. The candidate will then have to appear for the driving test on the allotted date.

    Following the test, the applicant can check the status of the driving license on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website or on the Tamil Nadu Transport Department website. The status of the driving license can be checked online using the application number.

    Documents to be submitted for the four wheeler driving license in Tamil Nadu

    Four wheeler driving license applicants will have to submit the below-listed documents before taking the practical driving test:

    • Form 4 - the application form for the driving license.
    • Form 5/Form 15 - for those who are taking the test through a motor driving school.
    • Registration certificate of the vehicle he/she will be taking the test with.
