    You will have to obtain a valid driving license if you wish to drive your vehicle on the roads in India. Obtaining a learning license is the first step to take if you wish to get a driving license. All Indian Citizens above the age of 16 can avail a learning license. 

    You will have to pass a test if want to avail a learning license. This test can be taken offline or online based on your convenience. All the questions asked will be having a multiple-choice question format where you have to pick the most suitable answer. There is fixed minimum number of questions you have to get right for you to pass this test.  

    Some sample questions that may be asked in the test have been listed below. The right answer for each question has been highlighted. 

    1. In a situation where you are driving towards a narrow bridge, another vehicle is approaching the bridge from the other side. What should you be doing? 
      • Increase your vehicle speed and make sure that you cross the bridge quicker than the other vehicle 
      • Switch on the headlights and continue to approach the bridge 
      • Press horn repeatedly and make sure the other vehicle gets the message and stops the car 
      • Wait till the other vehicle crosses the bridge, then proceed to cross the bridge 
    2. If there are pedestrians waiting to cross near the pedestrian crossing, the first thing to do is to immediately 
      • Press horn and continue to drive the vehicle 
      • Increase the speed of the vehicle so that pedestrians do not cross the road 
      • Stop your vehicle and wait till the pedestrians cross the road and then proceed driving 
      • Slow the vehicle down, press horn and then proceed 
    3. Pedestrians are advised to not cross roads standing behind a stopped vehicle or near sharp turns. This is because 
      • Drivers of the vehicles that are approaching will not be able to see the pedestrian 
      • Other pedestrians will be facing difficulties crossing the road 
      • It may be an inconvenience for the oncoming vehicles 
      • The stopped vehicle will obstruct the vision of the pedestrian while crossing the road. 
    4. In case an ambulance is approaching on the road, you should 
      • Not give any preference to the ambulance and keep driving  
      • Allow the ambulance to pass through by moving to the side of the road 
      • Allow the ambulance to pass only if there are no vehicles on the other side 
      • Get behind the ambulance vehicle and use it to beat the traffic 
    5. What are the driving instructions to follow when you are driving near a school? 
      • Increase the vehicle speed and make sure you leave as soon as possible 
      • Keep using the horn to ensure children do not come in the way while you are driving 
      • Reduce the speed of the vehicle and be watchful for any children that may cross the road 
      • Attain top speed and set a bad example for the kids 
    6. Is it acceptable to drink and drive your vehicle? 
      • You can drink and drive the vehicle if you just have to drive for a short distance 
      • You should not drink and drive your vehicle at any circumstances

      • You can drink and drive the vehicle in case an emergency situation comes up 
    7.  What is the method to distinguish between a private vehicle and a public transport vehicle? 
      • Transport vehicle can be identified by the colour of the vehicle 
      • Private vehicles are used by one person and transport vehicles are used by many people 
      • The number plates of the transport vehicles are yellow in colour 
      • Transport vehicles can be identified by the presence of a tinted glass in the vehicle 
    8. What is the duration up to which a learner's license is valid? 
      • A learner's license is valid for a month 
      • The learners license is valid for a year. You can opt for a driving license any time during this time period 
      • A learner’s license is valid for up to six months. You will have to reapply after the completion of 6 months from the date of commencement of the learner’s license. 
      • Learner’s license is valid for three years. You can choose to renew the policy anytime during this time period 
    9. What should be the next step in case you hit a pedestrian while driving your vehicle? 
      • Leave the spot immediately and make sure you do not get caught doing so 
      • Immediately check if the pedestrian is alright and seek immediate medical attention 
      • Inform the police about the incident and wait for them to show up  
      • Get out of the car and argue with the pedestrian in the middle of the road 
    10. Which side should you choose to overtake a vehicle that is moving in front of you? 
      • From the left side of the vehicle in front 
      • From the right side of the vehicle 
      • Choose the side based on the situation on the road. There are no fixed rules for overtaking 
      • Using the horn continuously and make sure the vehicle in front gets the message and moves aside 
    11. What should you do next if you notice a blind person trying to cross the road? 
      • Speed up and make sure cross the place before the blind person crosses the road. 
      • Shift the lane you are driving in and continue to drive 
      • Stop the vehicle and let the blind person cross the road 
      • Call out to the blind person from the middle of the road 
    12. When a person with a learner’s license is driving the vehicle, he/she will have to be accompanied by 
      • Someone who is elder than the person who is driving the vehicle 
      • Someone else who has a learner’s license 
      • Some friends to ensure that something bad does not happen 
      • Someone who has a permanent driving license and preferably with a good amount of driving experience 
    13.  If the vehicle is approaching a railway crossing that is not being guarded but the vehicle wants to cross, the driver will have to 
      • Press the horn and make sure that you cross the railway crossing at the earliest 
      • Wait until the train crosses before proceeding past the railway crossing 
      • Stop the vehicle on the left side of the road, approach the track to make sure that there are no trains approaching at the time of crossing. 
      • Not check if any trains are approaching on either side and just cross the railway crossing 
    14. In case there is a road without a pedestrian path on the side, the pedestrians will have to 
      • Walk on the left side of the road 
      • Walk on the right side of the road 
      • Walk on either side of the road based on the convenience of the pedestrian 
      • Walk on the road at times when vehicles are not plying on the roads 
    15. At the time of driving your vehicle, you will have to provide free passage to the following vehicles 
      • Ambulance and fire engines as both of their vehicles will be going to attend to an emergency 
      • Police cars and two wheelers 
      • Buses that are used as public transport 
      • Vehicle drivers who are repeatedly honking from behind 
    16. If you are planning to park your vehicle on the side of the roads at night, you will have to 
      • Make sure that the vehicle is locked  
      • Ensure that the parking light is on  
      • Make sure the vehicle is parked on the side and does not encroach the road in any way

    17.  If a driver notices a ‘slippery road ahead’ while driving the vehicle, he/she must 
      • Drive faster so that the vehicle does not slip
