    Those who own a vehicle of their own and wish to drive it on the roads of cities under the jurisdiction of Andhra Pradesh (AP) Government need to be registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Andhra Pradesh. According to the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, any person who wishes to drive a vehicle on an Indian road needs to have a valid driving license and also have the vehicle registered with a Regional Transport Office (RTO) as well. The Regional Transport Office not only issues the driver with a driving license but also offers other services such as issuing a learner’s licenses, duplicate license, renewal of driving license, issuing of a RC card, etc.  

    How to register your vehicle with an RTO in Andhra Pradesh? 

    To have your vehicle registered in Andhra Pradesh, you will have to submit all the required documents to an RTO located in the state. Along with the necessary documents, you will also be required to submit a Form 20, following which, an official from the RTO in your jurisdiction will carry out an inspection of your vehicle. Once all the detail have been verified, you will be allotted a registration number. You will also receive a registration certificate (RC) card or a smart card which will be sent to you via post to your residential address. 

    Documents you will have to submit in order to get your vehicle registered with an RTO in Andhra Pradesh 

    Following is the list of documents that you will be required to submit to get your vehicle registered with an RTO in Andhra Pradesh: 

    • Form 20 
    • Form 21/Sales Certificate which is the sale/buyer certificate and mentions the names of the buyer and the seller. 
    • Form 22 which is a road worthiness certificate from the automobile manufacturer stating that the vehicle meets all the parameters required to be driven on an Indian road. 
    • Form 22A if the body of the vehicle has been constructed or manufactured by a company other than the manufacture. 
    • A valid address proof of the vehicle owner. 
    • Documents related to vehicle insurance. 
    • Form 21/Original Sale Certificate if the owner of the vehicle was an ex-Army personnel. 
    • If the vehicle is imported, the owner will have to produce a Custom Clearance Certificate. 
    • In case the vehicle is a trailer or a semi-trailer vehicle then the owner will require an STA approval.  
    • The owner will also need to furnish the Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate

    You can also visit the official website of the Andhra Pradesh Transport Department and find details about RTOs in which you would like to get your vehicle registered. 

    You can visit any of these RTO offices in order to get your vehicle registered. You can download the required forms for the registration process either from the AP Transport website or collect them from an RTO office in Andhra Pradesh.  Once you have successfully submitted all the documents, they will be verified, following which your vehicle will be registered. The RTO office send the RC card to your registered address.
