The Transport Department of the state of Chhattisgarh is responsible for enforcing the rules and regulations stated in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Additionally, any other rules made by the state government, or the central government too, with regard to vehicles or road safety are constantly monitored by the department with the help of the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs). An RTO has been set up in every district and each RTO overlooks the transport-related activities in its jurisdiction.

Residents of the state of Chhattisgarh can choose to register their vehicle, get a permit, or apply for a driving licence directly at an RTO or through the official website of the Chhattisgarh transport department (http://www.cgtransport.gov.in/Default.aspx).
