    The transport department of India has created a vast network of RTOs that looks into the transport-related details of each area. Each city and each district have an RTO and an RTO code. Usually, the RTO code is mentioned on the registration plate of vehicles to make it easier to track vehicles.

    Each RTO carries out an array of tasks with respect to issuing permits, certificates, and licences. Every car driver and bike rider should ensure he/she has all the necessary documentation while driving/riding. If any individual is found driving without a registration certificate, driving licence, emission test certificate, or vehicle insurance, he/she will be fined heavily. Thus, it is advised to apply for these documents at the nearest RTO and keep it at all times while driving.
