SBI FASTag program is a part of the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) project launched by NPCI under the guidance of NHAI and IHMCL for facilitating digital toll payments. Under this program, you can apply for an SBI FASTag to make cashless toll payments at toll plazas directly from your prepaid/savings account linked to it. This facility can be availed for car, jeep, and light motor vehicle (LMV) class. SBI FASTag is accepted at more than 346 toll plazas across National Highways.

    What is SBI FASTag?

SBI FASTag is a simple-to-use device which facilitates cashless payments of toll charge at the toll plaza. By using this tag, you can save your time and fuel spent in making cash payments at toll plazas while driving across National Highways. You can apply for this reloadable tag by paying a nominal joining fee of Rs.100 and a one-time security deposit fee ranging from Rs.150 to Rs.400 based on the vehicle type. The tag comes with a guarantee of 3 years.

    How does SBI FASTag works?

SBI FASTag is a rectangular 10x5 cm tag made of high-grade paper which contains chip and antenna inside its layers. This device makes use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology to automatically deduct toll charges at toll plazas from the prepaid account linked to it.  Once the tag is activated, it will be affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle by a representative of the bank. Hence, while applying you must take your vehicle to the POS/Sale office location to get the tag installed.

Whenever your vehicle will pass through a toll station, the information from the tag will be read by the tag reader at the toll plaza and the applicable toll charge will get auto-debited from the linked account. The tag needs to be recharged regularly based on your requirement.

    Features of SBI FASTag

    • With this device, you can enjoy electronic toll payments during your journey through the toll plaza.
    • It enables you to make faster transit through the toll plazas by auto-debiting the exact toll amount. In this way, it also saves your time and fuel.
    • You don’t need to stop your vehicle at toll plazas for making cash payments as the applicable toll amount will automatically get deducted from your FASTag account.
    • Since it facilitates cashless payment you don’t have to carry cash for toll payments while travelling. Moreover, you needn’t worry about paying or collecting the exact change.
    • You will get a monthly cashback of 2.5% on all toll transactions done on National Highways by using the SBI FASTag till 31 March 2020.
    • Your FASTag account can be recharged online through debit card, credit card, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, and Net Banking. You can also recharge it through cheque and cash by visiting the POS.

    • SBI FASTag comes with unlimited validity and a guarantee of 3 years. You can use the same FASTag until it can be read by the tag reader.
    • For all toll transactions made from your FASTag account, you will get instant SMS alerts on your registered mobile number. You will receive alerts even if your account balance is low.
