    Claim Process

    The claim process of HDFC ERGO is simple and not at all time-consuming. The following steps are included in the claim process:

    • Registering your Claim:

    Inform the insurer about the mishap as soon as it happens and register a claim request to cover the risen liabilities.

    • You can register your claim via the HDFC ERGO mobile app which is available on the Google Playstore for download. After you download the app, provide the requested details of your insurance policy and register a claim.
    • You can also call the customer care on their toll-free number: 1800-2-700-700 and register your claim request.
    • Once you have registered your claim, you will receive your claim number.
    • Get your vehicle repaired:
      • In case of Cashless Claim:
        • Get the address of the nearest cashless garage either from the official website or call the customer care on their toll-free number.
        • Drive or get your car towed to the cashless garage.
        • An authorised surveyor will be sent to the garage to assess the total loss/damage
        • Submit the relevant documents along with a duly filled and signed claim form to the surveyor.
        • You will receive text alerts at every step of the claim process.
        • Once your vehicle is repaired, pay the agreed amount for deductibles, depreciation, etc. as instructed by the surveyor and the remaining amount will be settled by the insurer directly with the garage.
        • You will receive the claims computation sheet that shows the complete break-up of your claim settlement.
      • In case of Reimbursement Claim:
        • Drive your vehicle or get it towed to the nearest garage for repairs
        • All damages/losses will be surveyed and assessed by our surveyor.
        • An authorised surveyor will be sent to the garage to assess the total loss/damage
        • Submit the relevant documents along with a duly filled and signed claim form to the surveyor/insurer.
        • You will receive text alerts at every step of the claim process.
        • Once your vehicle is repaired, pay for the repairs yourself and collect the invoices and payment receipt from the garage. Submit the invoices and payment receipt to the insurer to claim the reimbursement of the amount you spent on repairs.
        • The insurer will pay the reimbursement via cheque/NEFT depending on what you have opted for. The amount you receive will be exclusive of the deductibles, depreciation, etc. that you have agreed to pay.
        • You will receive the claims computation sheet that shows the complete break-up of your claim settlement.

    Points to note:

    • In case of property damage, theft, bodily injury and other major damages, lodge an FIR at the nearest police station and obtain a copy of the same.
    • In case the loss/damage is a major one, do not move your vehicle from the place of mishap until a spot inspection has been done on the vehicle.
    • In case of loss/damage due to malicious acts, strike, riots, etc. inform the nearest police station as soon as possible.

    Documents to be submitted to process your claim

    • In case of accidents:
      • Copy of the vehicle’s Registration Certificate
      • Driver’s license copy of the person driving the vehicle at the time of the mishap.
      • Copy of the FIR filed by you
      • Estimate of the repairs from the workshop
      • Know Your Customer (KYC) documents
    • In case of theft:
      • Copy of the vehicle’s Registration Certificate
      • The original set of car keys
      • Copy of the FIR filed by you
      • Transfer papers authorised by the RTO
      • Know Your Customer (KYC) documents
      • Letter of Subrogation
      • Letter of Indemnity

    Exclusions of HDFC ERGO Car Insurance

    The claim process will not be applicable under the below circumstances:

    • Vehicle’s regular wear and tear due to aging
    • Electrical and/or mechanical failure
    • If the person was driving the vehicle under the influence of intoxicants
    • If the person was driving the vehicle was underage or didn’t have a valid driving licence
    • Loss/damage as a result of war/nuclear risks/mutiny
    • If the vehicle’s tyre and tubes alone are damaged
