    Sum Assured and Premium Range - What you get and what it costs?

    Sum assured:

    The minimum sum assured offered under HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider is Rs.25,000. However, there is no maximum sum assured limit under this plan. The maximum sum assured offered will be subjected to the Board Approved Underwriting Policy. Currently, the maximum sum assured under this plan is equal to the Base Policy Sum assured.

    Premium:

    The insured person is required to pay regular premiums at specific intervals, chosen at the time of policy purchase. Please note that the premium payment frequency for HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider will be same as frequency of the Base Policy.

    Plan Coverage - What the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider covers?

    HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider provides the rider sum assured as a lump sum amount if the insured person survives for 30 days following diagnosis of anyone of the 19 critical illnesses listed below:

    • Cancer of specified severity
    • Kidney Failure requiring regular dialysis
    • Stroke
    • Open Chest CABG
    • Heart attack
    • Apallic Syndrome
    • Benign Brain Tumour
    • Coma of specified severity

    • Loss of Limbs
    • Loss of Independent Existence

    Lump sum Benefit HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider provides the rider sum assured as a lump sum amount if the insured person survives for 30 days following diagnosis of anyone of the 19 critical illnesses listed above. Please note that the rider will be terminated once the sum assured amount is paid in lump sum or on the completion of the policy term, whichever is earlier.
    Death Benefit Unfortunately, there is not Death Benefit payable under HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider.
    Maturity Benefit There is no Maturity Benefit payable under HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider. The rider will be terminated at the end of the policy term.
    Surrender Benefit There is no surrender Benefit available under HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider.

    Exclusions - What the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider doesn’t cover?

    Some of the exclusions under the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider are as follows:

    • Self-inflicted injury or attempted suicide, irrespective of the insured person’s mental condition.
    • Taking part in any act of a criminal nature with criminal intent.
    • HIV or AIDS
    • Injuries caused by failure to seek medical or follow medical advice as recommended by the doctor.
    • Radioactive contamination due to nuclear accident.
    • Laser surgery.
    • Coma resulting directly from alcohol or drug abuse
    • stem-cell transplants
    • Any type of angina pectoris
    • Any injury or loss as a result of War, invasion, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution or taking part in a riot or civil commotion.
    • Medical conditions like Cysts, Granulomas, Vascular malformations, Haematomas, Tumours of the pituitary gland or spinal cord, and Tumours of acoustic nerve (acoustic neuroma).

    Plans with which the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider can be purchased Please note that the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider is available only with the below products:
    Discontinuance of premium If the life assured does not pay the due premiums before the grace period, the life cover will cease. Also, the lump sum assured amount will not be payable in this case.
    Termination of Policy The policy will terminate on fulfilment of either of the conditions mentioned below:
    • Expiry of the revival period
    • At the death of the life assured in an individual policy or the second death in a joint cover
    • On the date of policy maturity
    • Once the lump sum amount is paid after the insured person is diagnosed with one of the 19 critical illnesses
    Free-look period Policyholders will have an option to cancel the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider policy within 15 days from the date of receipt of the policy, stating the reasons thereof. For policies purchased through distance marketing models, the free look period will be 30 days.
    Grace Period The grace period applicable under the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider shall be same as the grace period applicable to the base policy. The rider can be revived only if the base policy is revived.
    Revival of policy The revival of the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider will be as per the revival conditions of the base policy to which this rider is attached. If the base policy is revived, this rider will be revived automatically.
    Waiting period There is a waiting period of 90 days from the date of risk commencement.
    Nomination Nomination for the HDFC Life Critical Illness Plus Rider will be as per the Nomination Schedule under the base policy. All nominations will be as per provisions of Section 39 of the Insurance Act,1938 and will be amended from time to time.
