Thanks to the number of health insurance companies in India, choosing a single health insurance plan has become a mammoth task today. Ideally, one would look at the features of the plan, the benefits offered, special inclusions, premium payable, limits on benefits, coverage amount, list of network hospitals of the insurer and so on. After looking at the many different plans and weighing the pros and cons, an individual would zero in on a single plan. However, the last thing one would consider checking is whether dental treatments are covered under the health insurance plan, unless one has had the experienced of shelling out a lot of money on dental treatments or surgeries.

Most health insurance companies exclude dental treatments as they mostly come under cosmetic treatments. However, a handful of insurers offer coverage for dental treatment if the requirement for the treatment arises from a major health condition or an accident. For example, the Bajaj Allianz Health Guard Policy offers coverage for dental treatment if cancer or an acute traumatic injury made the treatment necessary.
