    FAQs:

    1. Can one renew his/her health insurance policy after the first year?

The insurer will courier you a renewal notice informing you that your policy is about to expire. However, it is not mandatory for the insurer to send the notice, hence if the insurer does not send one, it should not be considered as a deficiency in its services. Renewing your insurance policy on time is your responsibility.

    2. Are diagnostic charges for MRI, X- ray, ultrasound, etc. covered under the insurance policy?

As long as the diagnostic instruments and laboratory tests are being used to help the hospitalised patient recover, charges for MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, blood test, urine test, etc. will be covered. But any diagnostic treatments or medical tests that are not related to the patient’s treatment for the specific reason he/she was hospitalised or that has been described as outpatient will not be covered under the policy.

    3. How can one get an Authorization letter?

The process of obtaining an authorization letter involves the following steps:

      • The respective network hospital will intimate Star Health by reaching out to the customer care at 1800 102 4477/1800 425 2255/044-28302200 or fax the pre-authorization form to Star Health at 044-28260056/1800 425 5522.

      • Star Health doctors will process the request and send a letter of authorisation or regret letter.
    4. What are the points to be noted when getting hospitalised and undergoing medical treatment for any ailment under the cashless claim facility?

Following are the points one should remember when availing a cashless claim facility for hospitalisation and/or medical treatments:

      • Register your name with the selected hospital well beforehand so that you can get admitted on the day you have taken the medical appointment.
      • For any issues that may arise, get in touch with Star Health customer care/hospital administration.
      • Show your Star Health insurance ID card and duly sign the pre-authorization form obtained from the hospital.
      • Some of the network hospitals may charge you with admission fees, registration fees, etc., which the policyholder has to pay for. These charges will not be reimbursed by the insurer under any circumstances.
    5. What is a Health Card?

A health card is an ID card issued by the insurer along with the issuance of the health insurance policy. Similar to an Identity card, a health card permits you to avail cashless hospitalisation facility at any of the authorised network hospitals.

The Star Health card will have all the relevant contact numbers and the contact details of the third-party administrator. If there is any need for clarifications, queries, assistance of any kind, etc., during a medical emergency, you can get in touch with the concerned people on the TPA numbers mentioned on your health card. Also, your health card should be shown to the concerned hospital staff before you avail any medical facility that the insurer has to cover.
