The IFFCO Tokio Individual Health Protector Policy is one such policy that offers health insurance coverage to both you and your dependents under a single insurance cover on an individual sum insured basis.

    Eligibility for IFFCO Tokio Individual Health Protector Policy

    This policy can be purchased on an individual sum insured basis to cover yourself and your dependents, including your spouse, children, siblings, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, or any other dependent relatives that you may have.

    Features of IFFCO Tokio Individual Health Protector Policy

    • This policy can be purchased for a tenure of 1 year. However, policy buyers can also choose to purchase it for a shorter policy term.
    • Policy buyers will be given a given a 15-day free-look period to review the terms and conditions of this policy. The free-look period is not applicable to policies that have been renewed.
    • After a claim is filed, the sum insured will be reinstated up to the extent of the claim amount paid by the policyholder. The insurer will subtract the reinstatement premium from the claim amount.
    • If the insured individual is diagnosed with a critical illness during the policy term, the insurer will provide a reimbursement of the charges incurred by the concerned individual up to the additional sum insured limit that is specified for that particular individual.
    • Policy buyers will need to pay the premium before the commencement of the policy’s risk cover.
    • Policies will need to be renewed within the expiry date of the policy or within 30 days after the policy’s date of expiry.
    • This policy can be ported. In order to port your health insurance policy, you will need to approach the new insurance firm at least 45 days before the existing policy’s renewal date.
    • Policyholders can choose to enhance the basic sum insured at the time of renewing their policy. If the sum insured is being enhanced by more than 10%, the insurer might require you to undergo a medical screening.
    • If a claim has not been made by the insured individual during the policy year, the sum insured will increase by 5%, subject to a maximum increase of 50%.

    Room rent charges
    • If the sum insured is Rs.5 lakh or above, room rent expenses will be paid as per actual expenses without any limits.
    • If the room rent is under Rs.5 lakh, the limits as mentioned in the policy brochure will be applicable for both the normal room rent charges and ICU expenses.
    • Registration costs, service charges, etc. will be paid up to 0.5% of the sum insured per hospitalisation.
    Consultation charges Charges/fees paid to the medical practitioner, consultant, or anaesthetist is covered by this plan.
    Cost of anaesthesia, oxygen blood, chemotherapy, cost of organ, artificial limbs, and other such similar expenses Covered by the policy.
    Vitamins and tonics Expenses incurred for vitamins and tonics will be covered if it is required as part of the treatment.
    Ayurvedic, Homeopathic, Unani, Sidha treatments Expenses incurred for Ayurvedic, Homeopathic, Unani, Sidha treatments will be covered up to the sum insured limit. Further, pre and post-hospitalisation expenses for the same are also covered.
    Domiciliary hospitalisation Up to 20% of the sum insured.
    Daily allowance Up to 0.20% of the sum insured per day.
    Ambulance charges Up to 1% of the sum insured or Rs.2,500, based on whichever is the lesser amount.
    Pre and post-hospitalisation expenses
    • Pre-hospitalisation expenses incurred by the insured individual up to 45 days before the actual hospitalisation will be covered.
    • Post-hospitalisation expenses incurred by the individual for up to 60 days after the hospitalisation will be covered.
    Daycare procedures 121 daycare procedures, as mentioned in the policy brochure, are covered.
    Cost of health check-up Cost of health check-up will be reimbursed at the end of 4 four consecutive claim-free years. The maximum amount reimbursed cannot exceed 1% of the average sum insured of the four claim-free years.
    Vaccination expenses Vaccination expenses will be reimbursed at the end of two consecutive policy years, subject to a maximum of 10% of the total premiums paid during the two years.
    Emergency services The emergency assistance services that are mentioned in the policy brochure will be covered at no additional cost.

    Exclusions of IFFCO Tokio Individual Health Protector Policy

    • The co-pay percentage that is to be paid by the policyholder will not be covered by the insurer
    • Pre-existing diseases for the first three policy years
    • Claims made during the initial 30-day waiting period
    • Expenses incurred by the policyholder for treatment of certain specific diseases, which are mentioned in the policy brochure, during the first policy year
    • Cost of contact lens, spectacles, and hearing aids
    • Expenses incurred on diagnostic or laboratory investigations/examinations
    • OPD treatments
    • Dental treatments
    • Allopathic, Ayurvedic, Unani, Homeopathic, or Sidha treatments unless prescribed by the practitioner
    • Maternity expenses and other related costs
    • Expenses incurred for experimental or naturopathy treatments
    • Acupressure, acupuncture, magnetic therapies, etc.
    • Transportation/travel charges, except for ambulance charges
    • Treatment as a result of participating in high-risk or hazardous activities and/or sports
    • Expenses incurred for external medical equipment used at home
    • Genetic disorders
    • Treatment for obesity/weight control, hormone replacement therapy, etc.
    • Mental illness
    • Physiotherapy or nursing charges unless the policyholder was hospitalised and a claim was admitted for the same
    • Rehabilitation expenses
    • Pre and post-hospitalisation expenses, daily expenses, and ambulance charges for the donor in case of a major organ transplant
    • Congenital diseases, self-injury, venereal diseases, convalescence, etc.
    • Treatment as a result of being infected with HIV
    • Expenses incurred as a result of nuclear weapons, war, etc.
    • Circumcision
