LIC online premium payment through credit/debit cards

India’s largest life insurance service provider LIC offers various facilities to ensure that its customers have easy access to the company’s products. One such feature is the online payment gateway option for policy premium payment. With the advent of online facilities, customers can now pay their premium dues without going through the hassle of visiting a branch office. In order to avail the online payment facility, policyholders must have an active credit/debit card to pay their premiums. Alternatively, customers can also choose to pay their premiums through the net banking facility.

Once a policy is issued, policyholders can visit LIC’s official website and register their policy in the portal. By registering their policies in the customer portal, policyholders can access their accounts and check their policy details whenever they want. Additionally, this portal can be used to pay the premium dues. It is worth noting that the online premium payment facility is available only for customers who have registered their policies in the portal. These customers can also pay the premium without logging into their accounts. Let’s see the step by step process involved in paying LIC premiums online.

Online premium payment through customer portal

Once you have registered in the customer portal, you can get information about your LIC policies including bonus status, loan status, claim history, policy status, grievance registration, etc. You can register your policy in your account through the following steps:

    • In the list of ‘online services’, click on ‘customer portal’.
    • In the resulting page, click on ‘new user’.
    • You can now enter various details like policy number, date of birth, email id, mobile number, premium installment, etc.
    • Once you have registered your policy, you can view your policy information online.

    • Enter your login information (email id/mobile number/customer id) and date of birth.
    • Once you have logged in, you can choose the particular policy and make the premium payment online.

    Online premium payment without login

While it is necessary for policyholders to register their policies in order to use the online premium payment facility, it is not completely necessary to login into one’s account before making the payment. Customers can also make the payment directly by simply entering their policy information. This can be done using the following steps:

    • Visit the LIC India website through the link: https://www.licindia.in/Home
    • In the home page, click on ‘pay premium online’.
    • In the two resulting options, click on ‘Pay Direct(Without Login)’.
    • In the resulting page, choose renewal premium/revival.
    • The subsequent steps include ‘customer validation’, ‘premium particulars’, and ‘payment’.
    • Upon clicking the proceed button, enter your policy number, date of birth, premium instalment, mobile number, and email id.
    • Upon completing these steps, you can enter your credit/debit card details and pay the outstanding premium amount.
    • A receipt acknowledging the premium payment will be mailed to your email id.

    Conclusion

LIC offers its customers a number of avenues to make premium payments. People who are still not well-versed with online transactions can choose to pay the premium instalment by visiting the company’s branch office. Even in online modes, customers can choose to make netbanking transactions by logging into their netbanking accounts. By choosing online payment modes, customers don’t have to take time out of their busy schedules and visit the branch to make the payment. Most importantly, there is no extra charge from LIC for availing this service.
