    Oriental car insurance claim process

    After a mishap, it is important to raise a claim request so that the insurer can process your claim and cover your liabilities that have risen from the mishap if any. Depending on the liabilities and causes of the mishap, the claim process will vary as mentioned below:

    • In case of third-party liability

      • Inform Oriental Insurance as soon as the mishap happens.

      • File an FIR at the nearest police station and obtain a copy of the same
      • Submit/provide the following documents/information:
        • Copy of the claim intimation
        • Copies of the insurance policy and premium payment receipt
        • Copy of the FIR filed by you and the address of the police station where the FIR was filed
        • Copy of your driving licence
        • A brief description on the cause of the accident
        • Name and address of the third party injured/killed in accident
        • Address of the hospital where the injured were admitted or where the dead bodies were shifted to by the police from the site of mishap.
        • Copies of post-mortem report or injury report
        • Vakalatnama that is duly signed by the owner and driver of vehicle
        • Information on damage/loss to the third-party vehicle or external property
        • Owner/driver’s comment on the FIR report
        • Details of the passengers travelling in the vehicle, if any
    • In case of an accident

    • Inform Oriental Insurance about the accident as soon as it takes place.

      • Submit/provide the following documents/information:
        • Submit a duly filled in and signed claim form

    • Copy of the Claim intimation
      • Copies of the insurance policy and premium payment receipt
    • Details of the authorised surveyor who conducted the incident inspection
    • Your Driving Licence (DL) - original and xerox copy
    • Your vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC) - original and xerox copy
    • Repair estimate from the mechanic
    • Invoices and payment receipt of repairs made to the vehicle
    • Copy of the FIR filed by you
    • Road Tax verification
    • A surveyor will be sent to assess the damage/loss, note the name, address and contact details of the surveyor.
    • In Case of Theft of The Vehicle

      • Inform Oriental Insurance as soon as the mishap happens

      • File an FIR at the nearest police station and obtain a copy of the same

      • Submit the following to the insurer:

        • Copy of the claim intimation
        • Copies of the insurance policy and premium payment receipt
        • Copy of the FIR filed by you and the address of the police station where the FIR was filed
        • Claim form duly signed and filled by you
        • Copy of police investigation report
        • Your driving licence - original and xerox copy

        • Photos of the damaged property showing the extent of damage/loss
      • A surveyor will be sent to carry out an incident survey for loss assessment
        • Your stock register to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Original bills/Invoice to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Payment receipt to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Fixed asset register to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Bank statement to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Cash-book/ledger to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Inventory of the articles kept in your bank-locker to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Submit the vehicle keys to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
    • In Case of Natural Calamities

    • Inform Oriental Insurance as soon as the mishap happens

    • Submit the following to the insurer:

      • Copy of the claim intimation
      • Copies of the insurance policy and the premium payment receipt
      • Claim form duly filled and signed by you
      • Photos of the damaged property showing the extent of damage/loss
      • Newspaper clippings of the incident occurrences
      • Meteorological Report
    • A surveyor will be sent to carry out an incident survey for loss assessment
      • Your stock register to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
      • Original bills/Invoice to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
      • Payment receipt to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
      • Fixed asset register to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment

      In Case of man-made calamities

    • Inform Oriental Insurance as soon as the mishap happens

    • File an FIR at the nearest police station and obtain a copy of the same
    • Submit the following to the insurer:
    • Copy of the claim intimation
    • Copies of the insurance policy and the premium payment receipt
    • Claim form duly filled and signed by you
    • Copy of the Fire Brigade Report
    • Photos of the damaged property showing the extent of damage/loss
    • Newspaper clippings of the incident occurrences
      • A surveyor will be sent to carry out an incident survey for loss assessment
        • Your stock register to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • The original bills/Invoice to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Payment receipt to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment
        • Fixed asset register to be submitted to the surveyor at the time of loss assessment

    • In Case of Fire and Explosion

    • If there has been a fire or explosion, you can submit a claim to Oriental Insurance.
    • Inform Oriental Insurance of the incident and the loss or damage to the insured vehicle.
    • Lodge an FIR with the police.
      • Submit the following to the insurer:

    • Copy of Claim intimation
      • Copies of the insurance policy and the premium payment receipt

    • Duly filled Claim Form
    • Police Panchnama/First Information Report/Final Police Report (Forensic Deptt.)
    • Fire Brigade Report

    Exclusions of Oriental car insurance

    Oriental car insurance claim process will not be applicable under the following circumstances:

    • In case the driver was driving without a valid driving license
    • Electrical/Mechanical failure of the vehicle
    • If the driver was driving the vehicle under the influence of intoxicants
    • Damage or loss as a result of war/mutiny/nuclear wars
    • If the damage was to the tyres/tubes of the vehicle alone
    • If the mishap took place outside of the agreed geographical location
    • If the vehicle was being used for hire/reward, organized racing, etc.

      In case you choose a network garage to get your car repaired you can raise a cashless claim where your insurer will directly pay the garage for the vehicle repairs done.
