    Eligibility for Royal Sundaram Lifeline Elite Policy

    The eligibility criteria outlined by the company for enrolling in Royal Sundaram Lifeline Elite Policy can be listed as follows:

    • The entry age of the proposer must be over 18 years.
    • There is no maximum entry age cap on this policy.
    • Dependents between the age of 91 days and 25 years can be covered under this policy alongside their parents.

    • The elite variant of the Lifeline policy has 5 different sum insured options: Rs.25 lakh, Rs.30 lakh, Rs.50 lakh, Rs.1 crore, and Rs.1.5 crore.
    • Pre-existing diseases have a waiting period of 24 months of continuous policy coverage.
    • The first 30 days of the policy will not provide any coverage for sickness hospitals. This waiting period does not apply for accidents and renewals.
    • If the optional critical illness cover is taken, any of the named critical illness contracted within the first 90 days of the policy cover will not be covered by this policy.

    • The company allows a 30-day grace period from the date of expiry before renewing this policy cover. However, there will not be any coverage for the days during which premium amount is not paid.
    • If the terms and conditions of the policy are not satisfactory, it can be cancelled within the 15-day free look period without incurring any charges.
    • The company allows transfer of the policy to other health insurance companies in the market without losing out on any accrued benefits.

    • Claims arising out of participation in adventure sports and hazardous activities

    • Self-inflicted injuries and injuries caused by suicide attempt
    • Expenses related to weight management treatment and obesity treatment
    • Claims related to experimental or unproven treatment methods
    • Alternative treatment except for AYUSH
    • Costs related to items of personal comfort and travelling of family members
    • Dental treatment unless arising out of accidents
    • Expenses related to artificial life maintenance
    • Cost of medical accessories such as spectacles, contact lenses, hearing aids, etc.

    Claim Procedure

    To initiate the claim procedure, the company must be intimated in case of an unexpected hospitalisation event. It is better to inform the insurer at least 72 hours ahead of planned hospitalisation. In case of emergency hospitalisation, the company can be informed within 24 hours of hospitalisation.

    Cashless treatment can be availed in any of the 3,000+ network hospitals located in different parts of the country. Pre authorisation can be sent from the hospital through the authorisation form obtained from the hospital. The company’s helpline can be contacted for any assistance in the request filing process. Once the authorisation request is filed, the third-party administrator (TPA) will verify the request and provide the authorisation within a maximum of 3 hours.

    For reimbursement claims, the claim must be filed within 30 days from the date of discharge from the hospital. While filing the claim, it is necessary to submit various documents including claim request form, medical bills, discharge summary, prescriptions, diagnostic reports, physician certificate, etc. After the submission of all these documents, the company will notify the acceptance or rejection of the claim within a maximum of 7 days from the date of receipt of all the documents. Upon acceptance, the settlement amount will be paid within a maximum of 30 days.
