    Features Of Star Senior Citizens Red Carpet

    Some of the key features of Star Senior Citizens Red Carpet policy can be listed as follows:

    • All pre-existing diseases and illnesses are covered after 12 months of continuous policy coverage.
    • 50% of co-payment is mandatory for claims related to pre-existing diseases. For other claims, 30% co-payment is required.
    • The sum insured amount originally opted can be enhanced during renewal provided that there is no claim being made under this policy. This enhancement is subject to the discretion of the company.
    • Portability option is available if the insured wants to move the policy to another insurer in the market. In order to avail this, the company must be notified at least 45 days before the renewal due date.
    • Income tax relief can be obtained for the premium charges paid towards this policy as per Section 80D of the Income Tax Act.
    • The policy term is one year, and it must be renewed annually.
    • A grace period of 30 days is available for the renewal of this policy.
    • A free look period of 15 days is available. If the insured is not satisfied during this period, the policy can be returned without incurring any cost.

    Benefits Of Star Senior Citizens Red Carpet

    Star Senior Citizens Red Carpet policy comes with a range of benefits against various hospitalisation expenses. The benefits can be provided as follows:

    Room, boarding, and nursing expenses Depending on the sum insured, the daily limit will vary.
    Intensive care unit charges Rs.1 lakh – Rs.10 lakh: Up to 2% of the sum insured per day. Rs.1 lakh – Rs.10 lakh: Up to 2% of the sum insured per day.
    Hospitalisation expenses covered Up to 25% of the sum insured for surgeon’s fees, consultant’s fees, specialist’s fees, etc. Up to 50% of the sum insured for blood, anaesthesia, cost of pacemaker, oxygen, operation theatre charges, etc.
    Ambulance charges Depending on the sum insured, the ambulance charges will vary. The ambulance charges can range between Rs.600 to Rs.3,000.
    Outpatient medical consultations Available for sum insured higher than Rs.3 lakh
    Post hospitalisation medical expenses Up to 7% of the hospitalisation expenses incurred comprising nursing charges, surgeon fees, diagnostic charges, medicines and drugs, etc. Depending on the sum insured, the post hospitalisation charges can range between Rs.5,000 and Rs.10,000.

    Exclusions From Star Senior Citizens Red Carpet

    Star’s Senior Citizens Red Carpet policy comes with a few exclusions for which the company is not liable to provide any compensation. Some of these exclusions are as follows:

    • Any diseases contracted during the first 30 days of commencement of the policy
    • Conditions like cataract, gall bladder diseases, uterus diseases, vertebral diseases, transplant related surgery, etc. for the first two years of the policy period
    • Circumcision, inoculation, or vaccination
    • Dental treatment or surgery unless arising out of accidents
    • Any forms of cosmetic surgery and/or implants
    • Convalescence, general debility, nutritional deficiency, congenital external diseases, general birth defects, anomalies, venereal diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.
    • Intentional injuries, suicide, or attempt to suicide
    • Injuries caused while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
    • Injuries caused by war or warlike activities
    • Treatments related to pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, abortion, etc.
    • Treatments related to weight loss or weight management
    • Expenses related to treatment of illness through systems of medicines other than allopathy
    • Cost of spectacles, contact lens, hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc.

    Claim Procedure

    • You can call the 24-hour helpline (1800 425 2255/ 1800 102 4477) for assistance.
    • In the case of planned hospitalisation, the insurer must be informed at least 24 hours before admission.
    • In the case of an emergency, the details must be provided to the insurer within 24 hours after hospitalisation.
    • Cashless facility is provided at network hospitals.
    • In the case of a non-network hospital, you must make the payment. However, reimbursement will be provided after the necessary documents are submitted.
