    Accidental Burns

    If the life insured suffers from Third Degree Burns incurred due to an accident, the insurance company shall pay a benefit depending on the damage caused to the surface are of the body as listed below:

    Occupation Loading:

    If the policyholder changes his/her occupation during the term of the rider plan, an appropriate occupation loading shall be done. This depends on the occupational class of the new job. The life assured will have to write to the insurance company detailing the changes in occupation.

    Double Benefit:

    • If the life insured uses any form of public transportation like bus, train, tram, etc. after paying for a ticket
    • If the life insured used a taxi that is tied up with the public transportation system
    • If the life insured was using an elevator car (in mines, ski resorts, etc.) which is authorised for the transport of people
    • Burning of a theatre, public auditorium, cinema, school, hotel, and hospital
    • If the life insured used a commercial airline for travel

    Exclusions – What the Tata AIA Life Insurance Accidental Death and Dismemberment Rider covers

    Benefits from a Tata AIA Life Insurance Accidental Death and Dismemberment Rider will not be payable if the injury or death incurred by the life insured occurs due to any of the following reasons:

    • Attempted suicide or suicide or a self-inflicted injury when the life insured is either sane or insane
    • For any injury, ailments, or condition which has previously shown signs or any symptoms
    • Failure to seek or follow medical advice
    • Terrorism, war, invasion, civil unrest, martial law, revolution, rebellion, usurper or civil commotion, riot or military power
    • Committing an illegal offence or assault
    • Taking part or engaging in any dangerous or hazardous sports or pursuits
    • Solvent or alcohol abuse
    • Drug or prescription pills abuse
    • Participation of the life insured in any flying activity unless he/she is travelling as a passenger in an airline
    • Any form of nuclear contamination which could be due to nuclear fuels, materials, property that has been contaminated by nuclear materials

    Free Look Period In case the policyholder is not satisfied with the “Terms and Conditions” of the policy, a 15 day period is provided where the insured can return the policy back to the insurer.

    Termination The rider will automatically terminate due to any of the following reasons:
    • Rider coverage term ends
    • Complete surrender or withdrawal of the basic policy or rider
    • Termination of the basic policy
