    The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways revised the fees related to driving licence and learner’s licence. The idea of the revision was to bring about uniformity in the fee structure for licensing in all states of the country. Most of the fees payable were hiked from what it was previously in order to streamline the fee structure as well as penalise those who do not renew their licences or update necessary changes in the document/smart card.

    Procedure to make payments

    With the help of the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, called Parivahan, individuals can make the fee payments easily and conveniently. The procedure is given below:

    • Open the home page of the Parivahan website.
    • Hover your mouse over the option ‘Online Services’ and then click on ‘Driving Licence Related Services’.
    • You will see a drop-down menu on the redirected page. Select the name of the state in which you are going to get the driving licence issued, renewed, or updated.
    • Once you select the state, the driving licence services offered by the website will be presented to you.
    • To make fee payments, click on the fourth option on the left-hand side.
    • On the redirected page, the instructions to the fee payment process will be given. Read the instructions and click on ‘Proceed’.
    • Enter your application number and date of birth.
    • Click on ‘Click Here to Calculate Fee’.
    • Check the details provided.
    • Select the bank or payment gateway through which you would like to make the online payment and click on ‘Pay Now’.

    The facility to make fee payments online for learner’s or driving licence allows the person to carry out the task conveniently in the comfort of his/her home.
