Likewise, having a fancy registration number which they desire is also one way of showcasing one’s personality. For many a fancy registration number like 8055 (reads as BOSS), 001, 007 (James bond code) and 786 (Islamic number), have to be their vehicle registration number regardless of the cost. The craze for these numbers are so high, that the cost of registration is as high as the cost of the two-wheeler. Politicians, business people, and many others believe that a particular set of numbers or a number which adds up to their one lucky number would bring good omen to them and their profession. So the thought behind getting a fancy number varies from person to person.
But getting a fancy number today is easy unlike the earlier time. Today all the process of vehicle registration is digitalized and only few paperwork is needed. Hence the process is simplified and anyone can get a fancy vehicle registration number without much hassle. So if you are a resident of the rich in culture, the Tamil Nadu state, here is all you need to know about getting a fancy number for two-wheelers.
For the vehicle registering in Tamil Nadu the state code would be TN and this is the primary identity of the two-wheeler. The next two digits are the numbers assigned to the regional Transport Office of a particular city. If it is a city Tamil Nadu like Chennai the RTO code would be TN -01. There would be many RTOs in the same city so the code also depends on the zones of a city. The next two letters represent the series of registration and the last four digits is the registration number of the vehicle.
The available range of number is from 001 to 9999 and 97 numbers out of these 1000 numbers will be reserved by state government as fancy or VIP numbers. These numbers will not be allocated for general public in the computer process. If you want a fancy number, you have to pay a special allotment fee as mentioned by the RTO authorities and apply for the same.
