Vehicle owners look at a lot more than just the utility and practicality of a vehicle when purchasing a two-wheeler for themselves. For many, a vehicle can be a means of expression. Thus, several individuals also apply for VIP registration numbers or fancy registration numbers for their vehicles. These fancy registration numbers can be purchased for a price from the respective RTOs. Different states fix different rates for VIP registration numbers based on the demand for these numbers. Read on to know more about the process to get a VIP registration number in the state of Maharashtra.
The number plate that is attached to your vehicle is more than just a random combination of alphabets and numbers. These codes, in fact, make up a unique registration number that helps in identifying your vehicle and protecting it from theft. The first part of the number plate is made up of your state’s code. Thus, two-wheelers registered in Maharashtra will begin with an “MH”. The next part is comprised of two digits that denote the RTO that your vehicle has been registered under. The third part of the vehicle is the registration ID or number. The fourth part of the vehicle is a holographic logo with “IND” embossed under the logo. This logo is present in all High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs).

According to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, all motor vehicles, including two-wheelers, are required to have a registration number. Thus, make sure to get a permanent registration number for your vehicle, soon after you purchase it.
In conclusion, registering your vehicle is a must for identification purposes. Along with getting your vehicle registered, you will also need to remember to purchase a two-wheeler insurance policy for the vehicle. While the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 makes it mandatory for all vehicle owners to purchase at least a third-party liability policy, you can also consider purchasing a comprehensive cover with add-ons if you wish to receive a more enhanced protection. Regardless of whichever type of policy you purchase, make sure to do your due research and compare policies before zeroing-in on one particular policy.
