The fees for the same on the basis of the registration number series and the type of vehicle is listed below:

• In case more than one vehicle owner is interested in getting a particular VIP registration number, the Registration Authority will allot that particular number to the highest bidder.
• Apart from the choice registration number, if a particular vehicle owner wishes to get any other registration number in advance for their two-wheeler or three-wheeler, the concerned individual will need to pay a sum of Rs.5,000.
• The Registration Authority, without payment of any additional amount, will release choice numbers that are not claimed by any bidders/applicants, provided the series has been exhausted.
• If any individual wishes to reserve a choice number that is a part of a running series in advance, the applicant will need to pay the full prescribed fees for that particular registration number, if the registration of the vehicle is not completed within a period of 90 days. The fees paid, in such a case, is non-refundable.

Need for Registration Mark/Number

A registration mark or number is unique to every vehicle. The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 makes it mandatory for every vehicle to be registered and have a number plate with the registration number. A two-wheeler that doesn’t have a registration mark cannot be used in public places. For this reason, it is mandatory for vehicle buyers to get registration numbers, either VIP numbers or regular registration numbers, as soon as they purchase the vehicle.
