Claim Registration Procedure for IFFCO Tokio in Case of Accidents:

    • The accident notice must be filed with the toll-free number of Iffco Tokio General Insurance, which is 1800-103-5499.
    • If the damage done to the vehicle is grave, the policyholder will be required to report the accident before the removal of the vehicle from the spot. This is so that the insurance company can arrange a spot inspection for the caused damage to the vehicle.
    • The policyholder can, thereafter, move his/her two-wheeler to a workshop to get an estimation of the repair charges. The workshop must be an authorised workshop.
    • The duly filled claim form along with a repair estimate must then be sent to the insurance company.
    • Upon receiving these two elements (claim form and repair estimate), the insurance company will thereafter arrange a detailed damage inspection of the vehicle and will ascertain the cost of repairs.
    • The insurance company will thereafter verify the Driving License and Verification Certificate of the driver driving the two-wheeler at the time of the accident.
    • Once the above-mentioned procedure has been completed, the repairers will be instructed to commence with the repairment of the two-wheeler.
    • Once the damage repair has been successfully completed, the insurance company will settle the claim directly with the garage.
    • In case of a reimbursement claim, the insurance company will credit the amount to the insured after the repairs have been done.

Things to do in case of Own Damage Claim:

    • If you have been involved in an accident, the first step that you must take is arranging for medical help in case anybody has been hurt. If there are other two-wheelers/vehicles involved in the accident, it is important that you note down their particulars. It is advisable not to accept any negligence for the damage or accept to pay compensation.
    • In case of third-party damage, death, injury, malicious act, terrorist activity or strike, it is of utmost importance to bring the issue to the concerned police’s notice.
    • If the accident is grave in nature and you cannot move the vehicle from its spot, you must make sure that it is properly protected. Any attempt to restart the two-wheeler or driving it is not recommended.
    • Make arrangements to move the two-wheeler to a garage in your proximity. Ask the garage to prepare a detailed estimate for you. This must include labor charges along with list of parts and their prices.
    • Until the damaged vehicle has been surveyed by a surveyor, it is recommended that you do not dismantle the vehicle or attempt to self-repair it.
    • Iffco Tokio General Insurance must be informed about any loss or damage immediately.
    • The duly filled claim form must be submitted to them.
    • The policyholder must submit all the required documents for verification along with a set of copies as well. The following documents are mandatory
    • Original vehicle registration book (fitness certification)
    • FIR (copy of the police complaint)
    • Original driving license
    • Total repair estimate
    • Additional documents must be asked for depending on the type of claim

Steps to Undertake in Case of Theft Claim for IFFCO Tokio Bike Insurance:

    • In case your two-wheeler has been stolen, the first thing you must do is report the incident to the police.
    • In case of theft claim, the insurance company will not initiate the claim process until a police complaint has been filed.
    • Notify Iffco Tokio General Insurance as soon as you have filed the police complaint. This will be helpful in case the thief tries to damage others with the stolen vehicle.
    • While notifying the insurer, mention all information including lease/loan of your two-wheeler along with the FIR.
    • Provide information such as your vehicle’s mileage, description, service record, and so on. It is also important that you provide a list of stolen items along with the car.
    • Your RTO must also be informed about the theft.
    • Your financier must be informed about the theft. You can ask them to discuss the matter directly with your insurance company so that the claim procedure is expedited.
    • In case your stolen two-wheeler is recovered by the police, the insurer must be informed about the same.
    • After recovery of the vehicle, the insurance company will be required to pay compensation for the damages caused to the vehicle. This is as per the standards mentioned in the policy under theft claim.
    • In case the police are unable to recover your stolen vehicle, they will have to provide a Non-Traceable Certificate and the court will be required to provide a final report under Section 173.
    • In case you have borrowed a car loan for your two-wheeler purchase, the claim amount will be directly settled between the insurer and the lender. The settlement amount is known as Insured Declared Value (IDV).
