Returning you to where you were...
Known as Andhra Pradesh for decades, after years of political battle to split the state, Telangana was formed in the year 2014. The other half of the state is still known as Andhra Pradesh. However, Hyderabad has remained the capital city for Telangana after much political battles. Telangana is one of the states where vehicle manufacturers are looking for a potential growth in the motor vehicle segment because of the opportunity in the state. No matter where you live in, a village or a city, a two-wheeler is the most convenient mode of transport. Due to increase in number of two-wheelers, traffic congestion is a problem in every city, and it is the same for Telangana state as well.
The number of two-wheeler vehicles has increased steadily, and this has widened the opportunity for the manufacturers to introduce more products in the state. On any given day, bike enthusiasts who love biking or traveling, have preferred two-wheelers over any other mode of transport. Even though the state has a different government, the Transport Department of Telangana has not changed the standard rules for vehicle registration process and follows the laws and guidelines written previously when the state was part of Andhra Pradesh. Only now, the vehicles will have Telangana state (TS) registration instead of AP. Therefore, for any queries such as vehicle registration, interstate transfer, re-registration, ownership transfer, etc. you have to visit the local RTO at your city. To know more about the registration process and the documents needed for registration and other kind of processes related to RTO, read on.
The Telangana state Transport Department abides by the law stated under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the government ensures that every RTO office follows the procedure as per transport laws and mechanisms, mentioned in the Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1963. The primary function of any RTO is to issue Driver License, Registration Certificate (RC), ensuring that vehicle owners do not violate traffic rules, pollution test, and enforcement of rules formed under the Motor Vehicles Act, etc.
The registration number process for two-wheelers in Telangana is a standard procedure that is followed in the entire country. The number plate or registration number of the vehicle consists of the Telangana state code i.e. TS, followed by the city code in which the vehicle was registered (Hyderabad – 09, Nalgonda – 05, Warangal – 03, etc). The next two letters denotes the alphabetical series in which it was issued, and the last four digits is the registration number of the vehicle.
