    Transport Department of Telangana:

The Telangana state Transport Department abides by the law stated under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the government ensures that every RTO office follows the procedure as per transport laws and mechanisms, mentioned in the Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1963. The primary function of any RTO is to issue Driver License, Registration Certificate (RC), ensuring that vehicle owners do not violate traffic rules, pollution test, and enforcement of rules formed under the Motor Vehicles Act, etc.

The registration process for two-wheelers in Telangana is same standard procedure that is followed across the country. The number plate or registration number of the vehicle consists of the Telangana state code i.e. TS, followed by the city code in which the vehicle was registered (Hyderabad – 09, Nalgonda – 05, Warangal – 03, etc). The next two letters denotes the alphabetical series in which it was issued, and the last four digits is the registration number of the vehicle.
