    News about Two Wheeler Insurance

    • New regulations likely to increase prices of two-wheelers

With the new regulations being proposed, two-wheeler manufacturers will have to decide whether they want to pass on the cost pressures to the customers or absorb it themselves to retain demand of the vehicles. Recently, long term two-wheeler insurance policies were mandated, meaning all two-wheeler vehicle owners would now be required to carry not a one-year two-wheeler insurance policy but a five-year insurance policy. This would mean the policyholder would have to pay the entire premium in one shot. At the same time, the cost of several raw materials for two-wheelers such as rubber and metal has been rising. This would require the manufacturers to pass on the cost to the customer, without which they would eventually incur losses. Also, manufacturers have received a mandatory instruction to incorporate anti-locking braking system and combined braking system. Further, new technological advancements would have to be made to be in line with the new emission norms applicable from 1 April 2020. Due to all these new regulations, the overall cost of two-wheelers is said to increase. An increase in prices, however, would affect the demand of the vehicles. While companies such as Bajaj can retain the price, relatively smaller companies such as Hero or TVS would find it challenging to bear the additional expenses.
