  • Bajaj Allianz General Insurance’ new app instantly disburses travel insurance claims

Bajaj Allianz General Insurance has launched an app to disburse travel insurance claims for travel delays even before the claim has been registered. The app is called Travel Ezee. It used the blockchain technology. If a flight is delayed, the insurance company will be intimated about the delay through a third-party aggregator so that the claims can be processed immediately. The policyholders have to just open the mobile app and enter their account details for the claims to be transferred. The flight details have to be previously entered on the company's website.

The general insurance company has also launched an instant motor claims mobile app known as 'Motor on The Spot'. This enables customers to conduct a self-survey and receive claims for damages up to Rs.20,000 in 20 minutes. Similar to that of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance’ chatbot called Boing, ICICI Lombard has a chatbot called MyRA. Chatbot works on AI and helps customers register claims, locate the nearest hospitals, and check claim status.

  • Get travel insurance for a peaceful vacation

Are you all set to go on your vacation that you have been planning for the last few months? Superb! What about travel insurance? If you haven’t obtained travel insurance yet, we advise you to get one as soon as possible.

Travel insurance will protect you from uncertain events during your trip. If you are traveling abroad, you may face unfortunate incidents such as medical emergencies, travel emergency issues, flight cancellations, flight delays, loss of luggage, etc. These emergencies can result in heavy costs especially when you are abroad. This is where travel insurance comes into the picture. With the help of travel insurance, you can get these high costs covered.

One of the best benefits of travel insurance is that your insurer will communicate with the relevant authorities to help you out when you are in trouble in a nation where the population does not speak English generally.

You definitely should make it a point to take travel insurance for any kind of travel plan–vacation or official trip. Travel insurance will give you extensive coverage from the beginning till the end of your end travel plan.

  • Travel insurance makes a good companion for trips abroad

People love to travel, visit new places, and meet new people. Unfortunately, most travelers fail to be prepared for unforeseen events such as sudden illness, accident, etc. This is where travel insurance comes in handy when travelling abroad. Single trip individual plans, single trip family floater plans, multi-trip individual plans, student plans, and senior citizen plans are the types of travel insurances offered by insurance providers in India. From a 6-month old infant to an 85-year old adult, anyone is eligible to purchase a travel insurance. The standard coverage period is 180 days.

The insurance coverage includes medical expense, cashless hospitalisation, emergency medical evacuation, accidental death and permanent total disability, personal accident, flight delay, loss of passport, and baggage delay. Insurance premium is determined based on Sum Assured, type of plan, add-on coverage, travel duration, destination, and age and health of the insured. Top single trip individual plans in India include Travel Asia Flair by Bajaj Allianz, Travel Asia Bronze by HDFC Ergo, and Reliance Asia Standard by Reliance General. Top single trip family floater plans include Travel Suraksha Asia Family by Future Generali, Reliance Family Gold by Reliance General, and Family Travel Protect 100 Worldwide by Star Health.

  • Opt for multi-trip travel insurance if you travel frequently

Frequent travellers or those who go abroad on holiday with family at least 2-3 times a year should ideally opt for annual multi-trip (AMT) travel insurance. This will work out to be cheaper than buying a policy each time you travel.

The coverage of AMT travel insurance is similar to that provided by a one-time travel insurance plan. The premium, however, varies based on the length of the traveller’s stay abroad.

There are health insurance policies offered by companies such as Max Bupa and Religare Health Insurance that enable policyholders to avail medical treatment abroad. There may be specific limits associated with this coverage. The sum insured for these policies may also be up to Rs.6 crore. If a traveller already has such a health insurance policy, he/she should still purchase a travel insurance plan, as it offers additional benefits. These include coverage for trip cancellation, loss or delay of baggage, passport loss, etc.

However, you should clearly understand the coverage under the travel insurance plan and ensure that it offers you maximum protection before purchase.

Hello,, I recently took a travel insurance from Royal Sundaram General insurance for my Thailand trip,,, Unfortunately I encountered sea urchin Bite when I was in Phi Phi Island so wanted to assure myself by consulting a local physician ,, so got an appointment with the local doctor and got the necessary treatment and he billed me about 8000 INR and gave me the proper receipt and case sheet ,, Then I applied to Royal Sundaram General insurance for reimbursement after returning to India,, They initially tried to decline my insurance claim by asking some of my documents that are not even mentioned in the policy claim form but I sent them all the documents they asked and this cost me about 600 INR for courier charges,Finally after all this hardship I have received a reply that my claim could not be processesed due to Low Bill amount which was neither mentioned in my insurance form nor informed me prior to the trip ,, And this is really a silly reason,,so never believe this scumbags

"Pathetic disbursal policy- rather not take an insurance"
    0.5 0.5/5 "Unacceptable"
Please do not buy ICICI Lombard Travel insurance for any foreign or domestic travels. They charge very high premiums but do not pay out genuine claims. I had paid a very high premium (approx.. INR 15000) for my father's travel insurance who was coming to UK for a short trip. Unfortunately, he had a cardiac arrest in UK and had to be admitted in hospital. It must be noted that he did not have any prior heart conditions. I have proofs of ECG just before his travel and doctor's diagnosis to prove that. The interesting part is: ICICI Lombardâ??s claims settlement has been outsourced to a company called FGA (Falcon India). Now their incentives are based on minimal disbursal, due to which they tend to reject even the genuine claims. Disgusting Part: A doctor representing ICICI Lombard was sent to assess the case post incident and he indicated some money to be paid to him for a report supporting the claim. When my parents refused to pay any money, a false report was prepared

"Religare only want new business - good luck with renewal"
    0.5 0.5/5 "Unacceptable"
Religare is only interested in new business and not care about renewal travel insurance . Their customer care email (ironically customerfirst ?!?!?) is very badly programmed...everytime (even response to quick response) creating new case so they have excuse for new SLA to response. They don't understand that, customer is in foreign country and having risk of heavy fine/medical charges in case of not travel insurance in case of required renewal. My insurance was going to expired (which is already) on 23-Sep-2016 and I sent them renewal request on 20-Sep-2016 and on 21-Sep-2016 signed extension form but yet not received any communication back. More frustrating is, they don't have customer care phone number which can be reachable from outside India (as they have 1800- number). I will not go for them in future.....and advice other too if they have change of extension on trip.

Because of cancelled flight, I missed my connecting flight. Had to make fresh arrangements. On trying to claim, they say no flight or taxi charges will be refunded, its only for food and stay ( normally any Arline's will provide if they cancel) Now finally they have stooped down to a level saying... The policy document (u get after you purchase policy by making payment) doesn't say it will cover missed flight, when asked its in broucher, " our terms and conditions gets modified after the payment is made" by SWARUPA MARTIN claims officer. So my suggestion is reliance don't cover missed flight, try other insurance... Its worst of all.
